Library Celebrates the Original Release of King Kong

On March 2nd 1933 King Kong burst into movie history. The immortal tale will be shown by the South Sioux City Public Library on March 2nd at 6:30 p.m. In the movie the giant primate Kong was found on a deserted island and taken to America. Kong falls in love with a young woman, played by Faye Wray and dies protecting her from perceived danger.

The movie is heralded as "culturaly, historically and aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and was selected for film preservation by the National Film Registry.
