Songs, Dances & Games of the Lakota
The library will host Jerome Kills Small for a program entitled “Songs, Dances & Games of the Lakota” on November 16th at 6:30 p.m.
Kills Small describes the history and origins of Native American songs and dances. He is a lecturer and storyteller, who makes hard drums and powwow-sized wood drums. He is a singer of Lakota songs, who has traveled extensively singing with The Oyate Singers of Vermillion, South Dakota.
Jerome Kills Small is an Oglala Lakota from Porcupine, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. He is a 1997 graduate from the University of South Dakota.
The program is made possible by funds from the Nebraska Humanities Council. The Nebraska Humanities Council makes possible programs of this sort, throughout the state of Nebraska.
