The Library is a Jobs Place: a Success Story

The library has people come into our doors nearly every day looking for work.  We help novice computer users navigate electronic forms, open email accounts, use Microsoft Word resume templates etc.  But we seldom know for sure that our efforts are successful.  Our best evidence for success is when a job seeker no longer comes in to look for a job, but they come in to checkout DVDs, music, books etc.  And then we do not know if they are working or if they have given up.

That's why I was heartened when I received an email friend request on Linkedin from a former job seeker. He found employment in his line of work and moved to the geographical area to which he wanted to move.  Needless to say, I was very pleased to be his friend on Linkedin.

Libraries work on so many levels, but we need your support to continue to do what we do.
