National Library Week Activities, April 10-16

Celebrate National Library Week by attending one or more of the following events.

The Maltese Falcon will be presented at the Western Iowa Tech Monday April 11th @ 6:30 p.m.

Trains of the Civil War– Dr. Rudolph Daniels will speak on the trains of the Civil War on Wednesday night April 13th at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Daniels is Assistant Dean, Department Chair of Railroad Operations Technology at Western Iowa Technical Community College. He has also written the official history of the U.S. Railroad Trains Across the Continent.

The Social Network– April’s Real to Reel Movie

This film fells the story of the founders of the social-networking website, Facebook. Adapted from Ben Mezrich’s book The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal. You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies!

The movie will be shown in Thursday night , April 14th @ 6 p.m. and April 16th @ 2 p.m.

Library Hosts Chamber Coffee on Friday April 15th at 9:30 a.m.

Poetry is Fun. April 15th @ 11:00: Do it yourself poetry writing, learn different techniques, and have a blast! Poetry isn’t just William Shakespeare, you can write too! Pre-registration is needed; classes open for children in grades 3-5.

School Day Out program on April 15th from 1:30 to 3:00. Angela from the Extension Office will be here to teach the kids some fun, fascinating things. Children will have the opportunity to make a craft, enjoy a healthy snack, and have some hands-on learning!
