The South Sioux City Public Library, 2121 Dakota Avenue, South Sioux City Nebraska is proud to host Ms. Isobel Houpt for a book signing and poetry reading and writing workshop on Saturday April 9th @ 2:00 p.m.
Isobel Houpt was born in London, England in 1938 where she, her parents and brother lived throughWW2 and its entire trauma. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1953. She has been writing both thought-provoking and humorous poetry since she was fourteen years old, but hasn’t shared any of it until recent years when she started doing programs for women's and other groups. Isabel's inspiration comes from her own and others’ personal insights and experiences as well as old stories and current events. The subject matter includes social issues, spirituality, teatime, women's issues and humor, with selections being appropriate for the group with whom she is sharing. Her poetry has been received with great enjoyment because of its unique, easy to understand and many times humorous content that is often common to other people’s lives.
Along with her work as a poet and presenter at live events, Ms. Houpt is active in the literary world as a book reviewer and literary critic.
During this afternoon of poetry-reading and book-signing, she will guide the participants in the process of creating their own poetry. If you would like more information on this event please call Library Director, David Mixdorf at 402-494-7545 for details.
