The following are the scheduled technology classes for the month of March.
Thurs Mar 1, 5pm: Google Docs: This class will give learners an opportunity to learn how to create word processing documents, spreadsheets and presentations in the cloud and share them with friends.
Mon Mar 5, 5pm: Know Your Computer: Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase you computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.
Mon Mar 5, 6pm: How to Create a Newsletter: Microsoft Publisher 2 covers how to use Microsoft Publisher to create a newsletter.
Tues Mar 6, 5:30pm: Clean Up Your Computer: Is your computer running slower? Do pop-ups keep appearing? Does your computer randomly crash or freezes up? Then this may be the class for you. Clean Up Your Computer shows you how to maintain your computer on both the outside and the inside. Learn what basic procedures and what free software you can use to improve the performance of your computer.
Wed Mar 7, 11am: Microsoft Excel 1: Trying to make a spreadsheet? Need a little starting guidance? We can help. We will teach all about the worksheets in Excel, how to move around the worksheet, all about the cells in the worksheet (cut copy paste) inserting rows/columns, and saving all your hard work.
Wed Mar 7, 2pm: Learn Your Library Web Page: Learn everything that you have available on the library web page. How to renew books, how to search for jobs, find out important information, what books your favorite author has written. All this information will be revealed and more.
Thurs Mar 8, 5pm: G-mail: Discover why G-mail is one of the most popular email services in the world. Learn how to set up and use your Gmail account.
Mon Mar 12, 5pm: QR Code’s: Have you heard of Q R Codes? Do you know what they are? How can they benefit you? Do you have a smartphone to use them? Come find out more information over this unique tool that the library is implementing.
Tues Mar 13, 5:30pm: Yahoo Messenger: Do you have friends or family that live so far away you never get to see them. Yahoo Messenger provides you the opportunity to keep in contact with them for free. Yahoo Messenger is a free instant messaging program that allows you to visually see, talk to and even send text messages to individuals all over the world. This class will teach you how to set up an account and what type of equipment you will need for your computer.
Wed Mar 14, 11am: Microsoft Excel 2: Did you know that Excel has a way to input math calculations right on your worksheet? There are ways to edit the cells in the worksheet such as alignments, borders, font changes, background, etc.
Wed Mar 14, 2pm: Internet Privacy: We will cover why privacy is important, safe searches and safety in social media.
Thurs Mar 15, 5pm: Facebook for Your Business: This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of for your own business.
Mon Mar 19, 5pm: Keyboard Mouse Skills: Double-click, Right-click, Scroll… If you get overwhelmed by knowing what all to do and when to do it with your computer mouse, step into this class and learn! Your mouse and keyboard are the ways you communicate with your computer; the more you know the more you can make your computer work for you!
Mon Mar 19, 6pm: Microsoft Publisher 1: Microsoft Publisher is a basic course covering the types of documents that can be created, how to modify templates and how to insert text and images.
Tues Mar 20, 5:30pm: Microsoft Word 1: We want you to become familiar with Microsoft Word 2007, so to begin we will start with basic terminology, how to accomplish everyday tasks such as creating a new document, saving a document, spell checking, change text and printing.
Wed Mar 21, 11am: Microsoft Excel 3: If you need to insert a chart into an Excel worksheet, this class will teach you how. We will also talk about page breaks and printing your document.
Wed Mar 21, 1pm: E-book Readers: Covers what an e-Book readers is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.
Wed Mar 21, 2pm:: Everything Google: Welcome to the wonderful world of Google. Learners will discover some about Gmail, iGoogle, Google Documents, Google calendar, Google Books and more.
Wed Mar 21, 6pm: E-book Readers: Covers what an e-Book readers is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.
Thurs Mar 22, 5pm: Blogging Basics: We will cover how to create a blog, use templates to create the look you want and how to add fun stuff to your blog.
Mon Mar 26, 5pm: Introduction To Your Laptop: Have a laptop and want to know all about it? Stop on in and we will start at the very basics and teach you all the components of your laptop computer.
Tues Mar 27, 5:30pm: Microsoft Word 2: We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.
Wed Mar 28, 11am: Setting Up an Email Account: If you never have had an email account this is the class for you. Learn about the different free email service that is very easy to sign-up for and use.
Wed Mar 28, 2pm: Search Engines: Covers some of the search engines other than Google, Yahoo and Bing. Students will learn about Collarity, Ixquick, Ask.com and Local.com.
Thurs Mar 29, 5pm: Twitter Basics: An introduction to signing-up, creating a profile and using the service to find friends and/ or use Twitter for a news source. Patrons will have the opportunity to have two Twitter friends by the end of the class.
