Spring into Spring

Larimiah Acoustic Concert
Larimiah will perform an acoustic concert at the library on Thursday night March 29th at 7pm. Larimiah has been onstage with some of the biggest names in Nashville.  He will have CDs on sale after the show.

Technology Classes
Monday Mar 26, 5pm:  Introduction to Your Laptop: Have a laptop and want to know all about it? Stop on in and we will start at the very basics and teach you all the components of your laptop computer.

Tuesday Mar 27, 5:30pm: Microsoft Word 2: We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.

Wednesday Mar 28, 11am: Setting up an Email Account:  If you never have had an email account this is the class for you. Learn about the different free email service that is very easy to sign-up for and use.

Wednesday Mar 28, 2pm: Search Engines: Covers some of the search engines other than Google, Yahoo and Bing.  Students will learn about Collarity, Ixquick, Ask.com and Local.com.

Thursday Feb 29, 11am: Know Your Computer: Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase you computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.

Thurs Mar 29, 5pm: Twitter Basics: An introduction to signing-up, creating a profile and using the service to find friends and/ or use Twitter for a news source.  Patrons will have the opportunity to have two Twitter friends by the end of the class.

Robotics Class
Come and explore the exciting world of robotics using the Lego Mindstorm
NXT robots at monthly meetings at the South Sioux City Library. Learn how 
to build and program the robot and much more through hands-on challenges.

“B” Movie Night at the Bijou
THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN provides a disturbing perspective on man's place in the universe. From the eerie moment that he is unexpectedly caught in a mysterious, luminous mist, Robert Carey begins gradually but relentlessly to shrink. The film's imaginative use of special effects features the hero's panic-stricken escape from a clawing house cat, and his efforts to obtain cheese from a mouse trap in order to survive.  The “B” Movie Night at the Bijou movie is on Thursday night March 29th at 6pm.

Cover to Cover Book Discussion Group
The Cover to Cover Book Club will discuss the first half of the novel Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.  Cover to Cover meets on Monday night March 26th at 6:30pm.

Youth Activities
Our regular youth activities are:  Preschool Story Time Tuesday at 10am & Wednesday at 4pm; Pat-a-Cake Pals Thursday at 10am; Family Story Time Thursday at 6:30pm; and Toddler Time Friday at 10am.

The following are some of the bestsellers available at the South Sioux City Public Library.

Celebrity in Death by J.D. Robb: NYC Lt. Eve Dallas investigates the death of a young actress with the assistance of her husband Rourke and Detective Peabody.

Kill Shot by Vince Flynn:  Young Mitch Rapp sets out on a deadly mission to hunt down the men responsible for the Pan Am Lockerbie terrorist attack.

Of course there are many other great books, movies and musical recordings available at the library.
