Summer Concert Tour at the SSC Library



The South Sioux City Public Library 2121 Dakota Avenue, South Sioux City, Nebraska, is in the midst of their 4th year of Library Concerts.  We have four concerts scheduled for the summer of 2012.

 Marc Black will be at the library for a concert on Thursday night June 7th at 7pm.  Marc has been playing music for over 40 years.  His first taste of music success was with his high school band, Blades of Grass.  This band opened for many major acts the Doors and Van Morrison to name a few.  He had worked on projects with Art Garfunkel and John Sebastian.  His current CD is entitled Pictures of the Highway.  This evening promises to offer a combination of lyrical craftsmanship and guitar prowess.  Pictures of the Highway was #34 for the year on the Folk DJ Chart.  One tune, Ooh I Love My Coffee reached #6.  This CD, recorded with Ray La Montagne rhythm section, was released in Europe just a few months ago.  Sample some of Marc’s music at www.marcblack.com/.

Dublin native, John Byrne will be in concert at the library for a solo acoustic concert on Thursday night June 14th at 7pm.  John’s first solo album After the Wake received critical acclaim in both the US and the UK.  His band, the John Byrne Band has sold out the World CafĂ© Live, in Philadelphia four separate times.  They have toured with The Hothouse Flowers and the Young Dubliners to name a few. John and the Band performed the VIP reception for the Liberty Medal Presentation at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia before President Bill Clinton and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair alongside the Irish Tenors.  John’s website is http://johnbyrneband.com/

Iowa native, Colorado resident Chuck Pyle will perform on Thursday night July 12th at 7pm.  Chuck is a singer/ songwriter whose songs have been covered by the late Chris LeDoux (Cadillac Cowboy) and Jerry Jeff Walker (Jaded Love).   His music has made him a favorite of Bill & Melinda Gates who have had him play at their home in Seattle. Since writing the theme-song for a PBS series called Spirit of Colorado, he's attained local fame, and even sings for the opening session of the Colorado State LegislatureHis latest CD is entitled The Spaces In Between.  Visit his website http://www.chuckpyle.com/index.html to sample his work.
 
Dana Hubbard rounds out our summer schedule with a performance at the library on Thursday night July 19th at 7pm.  Both a singer/songwriter and an acoustic blues artist, Dana Hubbard deftly combines the two genres with a warm and engaging personality on stage, singing and telling stories.  Dana has shared the stage with such legendary artists Etta James, Gregg Allman and Little Feat.  Lightnin’s Cadillac is his first solo CD release.  Dana’s website is http://www.danahubbard.com/
