Spring Book Sale @ your Library

Many patrons have inquired about our next book sale.  We are proud to announce that we will have our Spring Book Sale on May 11th & 12th from 9am to 5pm.

Books for Moms:  Mother’s Day is on Sunday May 13th.  The following books are recommended to wives and mothers.

Worth Fighting For:  Love, Loss and Moving Forward by Lisa Niemi chronicles the battle she faced with husband, Patrick Swayze, after his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.  She writes candidly about her grief, loss and the challenge of facing the second half of life.

The Digital Mom’s Handbook:  How to blog, vlog, Tweet and Facebook Your Way to a Dream Career at Home by Audrey McClelland and Colleen Padilla gives readers guidance in developing a profitable career at home.

Being Home by Ruth Raymond Thoene is a series of essays by Nebraska’s former First Lady, in which she recounts her first years out of public life, her thoughts and reflections on all things personal.

Computer Classes:  All of our computer classes are free and open to the public.  Check the schedule for the appropriate topic for you.

Microsoft Excel 2:  (Monday May 7th at 5pm) Did you know that Excel has a way to input math calculations right on your worksheet? There are ways to edit the cells in the worksheet such as alignments, borders, font changes, background, etc.

Microsoft Word 2:  (Tuesday May 8th at 5:30pm) We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.

Keyboard Mouse Skills: (Wednesday May 9th at 11am) Double-click, Right-click, Scroll%u2026 If you get overwhelmed by knowing what all to do and when to do it with your computer mouse, step into this class and learn! Your mouse and keyboard are the ways you communicate with your computer; the more you know the more you can make your computer work for you!

Microsoft Publisher 1:  (Thursday May 10th at 5pm) Microsoft Publisheris a basic course covering the types of documents that can be created, how to modify templates and how to insert text and images.

Other Technology Classes:  The library also offers classes on social media, use of databases and much more. 

This week we have Facebook for Business: (Monday May 7th at 6pm) This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of for your own business.

NebraskAccess (Wednesday May 9th at 2pm) An introduction to the search engine developed by the Nebraska Library Commission and the databases available to South Sioux City Public Library card holders.

Children’s Programs: Our regular children’s programs are Preshcool Story Time Tuesday at 10am & Wednesday at 4pm, Pat-a-Cake Pals Thursday at 10am, Family Story Time Thursday at 6:30pm, Toddler Time Friday at 10am. And Robotics Class Thursday at 6:30pm.

Real to Real Movie (Thursday May 10 at 6pm) Born to be Wild is a nature documentary about remote rainforests in Indonesia and the deserts of Africa
