Summer Reading Program @ the Library

The following article was published in this week's edition of the Dakota County Star. Thank them for publishing this in their hard copy paper.

The 2012 Summer Reading Program is under way at the library.  We have themes and programs for all ages this year.  Dream Big:  Read! is the theme for children Pre-K through 6th grade.  Own the Night is the teen theme and Between the Covers is the theme for the adults.  Stop by the library for details on the reading activities.

Travel Local is a Summer Reading Program activity for adults.  Adventure is less than a day’s drive away.  Discover some interesting destinations in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota.  With high fuel prices, this is a great opportunity to get ideas for your “stay-cation” this summer.  Travel Local will be held on Monday June 4th at 6:30 pm.

Marc Black will be at the library for a concert on Thursday night June 7th at 7pm.  Marc has been playing music for over 40 years.  His first taste of music success was with his high school band, Blades of Grass.  This band opened for many major acts the Doors and Van Morrison to name a few.  He had worked on projects with Art Garfunkel and John Sebastian.  His current CD is entitled Pictures of the Highway.  This evening promises to offer a combination of lyrical craftsmanship and guitar prowess.  Pictures of the Highway was #34 for the year on the Folk DJ Chart.  One tune, Ooh I Love My Coffee reached #6.  This CD, recorded with Ray La Montagne rhythm section, was released in Europe just a few months ago.  Sample some of Marc's music atwww.marcblack.com/.
