South Sioux City Librarians Bring Home Awards for Excellence
Two South Sioux City Public Librarians won awards at the Nebraska Library Association Annual Conference, on October 18th and 19th, 2012.   Odessa Meyers, Youth Services Librarian won the NMRT/Houchen Bindery Beginning Professional Award. This award is presented annually to a beginning librarian who has made significant contributions to library services in the early stages of his/her career. Odessa has been the Youth Services Librarian

Odessa has worked at SSC since June of 2009. In that time the library has seen programs increase to over 35 programs a month and attendance reaching over 6,000 participants. Library Director, Dave Mixdorf brought home the NMRT/Houchen Bindery Mentor of the Year Award. This award goes to an individual who has aided significantly in the professional development of librarians or library staff, and by example, has influenced their careers. These awards are cash awards sponsored by Houchen Bindery Ltd. 

Houchen Bindery provides book binding and preservation services for Universities, Public Libraries, Printers, Publishers, and individuals all across the United States.
