Every Child Ready to Read @ your Library

Youth Department staff will hold an Every Child Ready to Read workshop on Thursday night November 8 at 6:30 pm.  This program teaches parents and other caregivers how to support the early literacy development of their children.

Real to Reel Movie:  Katherine Hepburn, Henry Fonda and Jane Fonda star in a movie that explores the fears of aging on Thursday November 8 at 6 pm.

Technology Classes
Microsoft Publisher 3:  Learn how to create a variety of documents using Microsoft Publisher on Monday, Nov 5, 1pm.

QR Code’s: Have you heard of Q R Codes? Do you know what they are? How can they benefit you? Do you have a “Smartphone” to use them? Come find out more information over this unique tool that the library is implementing held on Monday, Nov 5, 5pm.

Know Your Computer: Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase you computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer Monday, Nov 5, 6:30 pm.

Microsoft Word 1:  We want you to become familiar with Microsoft Word 2007, so to begin we will start with basic terminology, how to accomplish everyday tasks such as creating a new document, saving a document, spell checking, change text and printing Tuesday, Nov 6,   10am.

Clean Up Your Computer:  Is your computer running slower? Do pop-ups keep appearing? Does your computer randomly crash or freezes up? Then this may be the class for you. Clean up Your Computer shows you how to maintain your computer on both the outside and the inside. Learn what basic procedures and what free software you can use to improve the performance of your computer Tuesday, Nov 6,    11am:

E-book Reader classes are held on Tuesday, Nov 6, 12pm, Wednesday November 7 at 3 pm, Thursday November 8 at 6 pm.

Microsoft Excel 2: Did you know that Excel has a way to input math calculations right on your worksheet? There are ways to edit the cells in the worksheet such as alignments, borders, font changes, background, etc Tuesday, Nov 6, 4pm.

: Learn your Library Web Page: Learn everything that you have available on the library web page. How to renew books, how to search for jobs, find out important information, what books your favorite author has written. All this information will be revealed and more.  Tuesday, Nov 6, 5:30pm.

Know your Computer class taught in Spanish on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

Facebook Basics:  This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of your own and understanding the privacy policies and settings. Wednesday, Nov 7,   2pm

Microsoft Publisher is a basic course covering the types of documents that can be created, how to modify templates and how to insert text and images.

Tech Thursday is a time when library staff seeks to answer any tech questions on Thursday November 8 at 5 pm.

Youth Activities
Our list of youth activities begins on Monday with Alphabet Party at 6:30 pm, Preschool Story Time Tuesday at 1 pm & Wednesday at 4:30 pm, Pat-a-Cake Pals on Thursday at 10 am and Toddler Time Friday at 10 am.

In honor of November being Native American Heritage Month we would like to recommend these musical recordings.

Come to Me Great Mystery:  Native American Healing Songs is a compilation of healing songs from the Lakota, Navajo, Blackfeet and more traditions.

Dance with the Wind by Mary Youngblood is an album of contemporary music, which covers a variety of native themes broadly classified in the New Age genre.  Mary provides the vocals, flutes and piano on this recording, with other musicians providing other accompaniment.
