Vehicle Emergency Kit

The following is from the Dakota County Emergency Management Team.


Flashlights with extra batteries
Blankets or sleeping bags
Booster (jumper) cables
Bottled water
Nonperishable, high-energy foods: granola bars, raisins, peanut butter, etc.
Dry clothing, mittens, hats, gloves, winter boots, extras jeans or pants & shirt, hooded sweatshirt
Sack of sand or cat litter
First Aid Kit
Pencil and paper
Shovel
Tow rope or chain
Flares and reflectors
Basic tools – pliers, Phillips screw driver, etc.
A large coffee can, matches or lighter, candle, metal cup.  (This can be used to melt snow for water)
Large plastic bags
Duct tape
Rope

Remember if you do get stranded especially in the snow it is important to mark your vehicle with reflectors somehow, clean the snow away from your exhaust, and don’t run your vehicle constantly to save on your fuel.
