The following is the weekly article we publish in the Dakota County Star newspaper.
Half Broke Horses at the Library
Cover to Cover book club will discuss the book Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls at 6:30 p.m. Cover to Cover is open to all who enjoy books and love to discuss them.
B Movie Night at the Bijou is on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. In this movie a starship crew goes to investigate the silence of a planet's colony only to find two survivors and a deadly secret that one of them has.
Changes in Policy: The library is making a few new policy changes. DVDs will now checkout for five days rather than three days. Audio books and music CDs will have a late fee of $0.50 per day.
Technology Classes: Our schedule is full of technology classes this week.
Blogging Basics (Monday at 1:00 p.m.): We will cover how to create a blog, use templates to create the look you want and how to add fun stuff to your blog.
Windows Basics (Monday at 5:00 p.m.): We will start at the very beginning of Windows 7 with an introduction to the Desktop, Start Menu and the all new Taskbar.
Microsoft Word 2 (Monday at 6:30 p.m.): We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.
Know your Computer (Tuesday at 10:00 p.m.): Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase you computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.
Microsoft Word 3 (Tuesday at 11:00 p.m.): We have learned all about saving, new documents, text editing, cut and paste and much more. In this class you will learn bullets, undo/redo, setting margins, page numbers, page breaks, headers/footers and print preview and printing your document.
E-book Readers (Tuesday at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. and Thursday at 6:00 p.m.): Covers what an e-Book reader is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.
Clean-up Your Computer (Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.): Is your computer running slower? Do pop-ups keep appearing? Does your computer randomly crash or freezes up? Then this may be the class for you. Clean up Your Computer shows you how to maintain your computer on both the outside and the inside. Learn what basic procedures and what free software you can use to improve the performance of your computer.
Mango Languages (Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.): Learn languages quickly and easily with the world's most powerful language software. Mango Languages allows you to learn even the most difficult languages. Choose from 16 foreign languages and 12 English as second languages (ESL).
Facebook Basics (Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.): This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of your own and understanding the privacy policies and settings.

Google Documents (Thursday at 2:00 p.m.): This class will give learners an opportunity to learn how to create word processing documents, spreadsheets and presentations in the cloud and share them with friends.
Tech Thursday (Thursday at 5:00 p.m.): This is a time to bring your questions about computers, gadgets and technology. Join us and we will enjoy a good time of learning together.
Youth Activities This weeks youth activities are as follows: Monday Movie Matinee (3:30 p.m.), Preschool Story Time (Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. & Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.), Alphabet Party (Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.), Toddler Time (Thursday at 10:00 a.m.), Night of FUN at the Library (Thursday at 6:30 p.m.), Toddler Time (Friday at 10:00 a.m.), Let’s Create (Friday at 4:00 p.m.) and Saturday movie at 1:00 p.m.
