The following is the library column published this week, June 20th in the Dakota County Star newspaper.
Willa Cather Discussion at the Library
Many participated in the program “O. Pioneers: Willa Cather’s Second First Novel” on Wednesday night June 12th at the library. Cover to Cover book club will continue the discussion on Monday night June 24th as they discuss Willa Cather’s novel O, Pioneers. We will touch on the connection of the novel with Walt Whitman’s poem Pioneers O, Pioneers. We will also get reader thoughts and reactions on the book.
In contrast, we will discuss The End of Everything by Megan Abbott. This novel looks at the seedy side of suburbia, seduction and sexuality in the 1980’s. Megan Abbott is a master of teen crime noir and this novel does not disappoint. We will discuss both books on Monday June 24th at 6:30 p.m. in the library café.
