Sharpen Your Skills at the Library
E-book Reader (December 2nd at 3:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., Tuesday December 3rd at 12:00 p.m., and Thursday December 5th at 6:00 p.m.): Covers what an e-Book reader is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.
Windows Basics December 2nd at 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday December 4th at 5:30 p.m.): We will start at the very beginning of Windows 7 with an introduction to the Desktop, Start Menu and the all new Taskbar.
Windows Basics 2 (Tuesday December 3rd at 10:00 p.m.): With this class we will build on the knowledge of Windows Basic and learn more about the Start Menu, where you can launch any programs installed on your computer and also search for files (pictures, videos and music) We’ll also demonstrate how to “pin” your favorite programs to the Start Menu or Taskbar.
Windows Basics 3 (Tuesday December 3rd at 3:00 p.m.): Did you know that you can Aero Peek, Snap and Shake on your computer? If you don’t know what we am talking about, stop in and let us show you some new ways of working with Windows to make it more productive.
Keyboard Mouse Skills (Tuesday December 3rd at 10:00 a.m., and 5:30 p.m.): Double-click, Right-click, Scroll… If you get overwhelmed by knowing what all to do and when to do it with your computer mouse, step into this class and learn! Your mouse and keyboard are the ways you communicate with your computer; the more you know the more you can make your computer work for you!
Know Your Computer (Tuesday December 3rd at 4:00 p.m.): Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase your computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.
Clean Up Your Computer (Thursday December 5th at 10:00 a.m.): Is your computer running slower? Do pop-ups keep appearing? Does your computer randomly crash or freezes up? Then this may be the class for you. Clean Up Your Computer shows you how to maintain your computer on both the outside and the inside. Learn what basic procedures and what free software you can use to improve the performance of your computer.
Facebook Basics (Thursday December 5th at 11:00 p.m.): This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of your own and understanding the privacy policies and settings.
Twitter Basics (Thursday December 5th at 2:00 p.m.): An introduction to signing-up, creating a profile and using the service to find friends and/ or use Twitter for a news source. Patrons will have the opportunity to have two Twitter friends by the end of the class.
Blogging Basics (Thursday December 5th at 3:30 p.m.): We will cover how to create a blog, use templates to create the look you want and how to add fun stuff to your blog.
Tech Thursday (Thursday December 5th at 5:00 p.m.): Bring your technology questions to this class.
Popular Movies at the Library: DVDs circulation is a large part of our daily circulation at the library. The following are the top ten titles by circulation so far this year: Game of Thrones, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever, Ice Age, Secret of the Wings, Rio, Rise of the Guardians, ParaNorman, Ted, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, and Madagascar 3.
