The South Sioux City Public Library is proud to work with the Jackson Book Club to bring Greg Kurzawa, author of Gideon’s Wall, to the South Sioux City Public Library on Tuesday night January 21st at 7:00 p.m.

Greg Kurzawa studied theology at a small university in East Texas before stumbling into a career in information technology--a career from which he hopes to stumble away someday. He has lived in Texas, Colorado, and North Carolina, but currently resides with his incredible wife and their three rowdy children in Nebraska. –From the author’s Good Reads page.

Gideon’s Wall is a bleak fantasy about the defenders of a fortified wall built to separate the desert-dwelling Bedu from the rest of the civilized empire of Shallai.  It features racial tension, lost causes, and more than one kind of monster.

SSC Scribes Meeting:  The SSC Scribes will meet on Monday January 20th at 6:00 p.m.  The Scribes group is made up of a variety of individuals seeking to hone their writing craft.  We will do a writing exercise, discuss learning opportunities, and share what we have been reading.  The group is open to writers of all levels of accomplishment.

Tangled Yarns is an active group of knitters and other needle workers, who want to sharpen their skills and have a good time with neighbors and friends.  You are invited to participate on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

E-book Reader: Covers what an e-Book reader is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.  The class is will be held on Monday January 20th at 3:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m., Tuesday January 21st at 12:30 p.m., and Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

Microsoft Word 2 is held on Monday January 20th at 5:00 p.m.  We have learned all about saving, new documents, text editing, cut and paste and much more. In this class you will learn bullets, undo/redo, setting margins, page numbers, page breaks, & headers/footers.

Windows Basics 3:  Did you know that you can Aero Peek, Snap and Shake on your computer? If you don’t know what we am talking about, stop in and let us show you some new ways of working with Windows to make it more productive.  This class is held on Tuesday January 21st at 10:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.

Pinterest:  This is a time to learn to participate in the picture pinning social media on Tuesday January 21st at 11:00 a.m.

Windows Basics 2:  With this class we will build on the knowledge of Windows Basic and learn more about the Start Menu, where you can launch any programs installed on your computer and also search for files (pictures, videos and music) we’ll also demonstrate how to “pin” your favorite programs to the Start Menu or Taskbar.  This class is held on Tuesday January 21st at 2:00 p.m.

Learn Your Library Webpage:  Learn everything that you have available on the library web page. How to renew books, how to search for jobs, find out important information, what books your favorite author has written. All this information will be revealed and more. We meet on Tuesday January 21st at 4:00 p.m.

Know Your Computer:  Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase your computer vocabulary?  class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.  This class is held on Wednesday January 22nd at 5:30 p.m.

Microsoft Publisher 1: Microsoft Publisher is a basic course covering the types of documents that can be created, how to modify templates and how to insert text and images.  This is held on Thursday January 23rd at 11:00 a.m.

Microsoft Publisher 2:  Learn how to use and modify Microsoft Publisher templates on Thursday January 23rd at 2:00 p.m.

Microsoft Publisher 3:  Learn how to create a variety of documents using Microsoft Publisher on Thursday January 23rd at 3:30 p.m.

Tech Thursday:  This is a time to bring your technology questions to the library staff on Thursday January 23rd at 5:00 p.m.
