Dig into Reading at the Library

This is our weekly column, published in the Dakota County Star.
Dig into Reading at the Library
Cover to Cover Book Club will discuss the book The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan Phi lipp- Sendker. In this novel a young woman goes to Burma to discover the truth about her estranged Father. This discussion will he held on Monday April 28th at 3:00 p.m.
E-book Reader:  Covers what an e-Book reader is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.  This class meets on Monday April 28th at 3:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., Tuesday April 29th at 12:30 p.m.,  and Thursday May 1st at 6:00 p.m.
Know Your Computer:  Would you like to learn the very basics of your computer? How about increase your computer vocabulary? This class will teach the very basics of computer knowledge. It will let you feel confident in knowing what all the components are on your computer.  Know Your Computer is held on Monday April 28th at 5:30 p.m.
Windows I:  We will start at the very beginning of Windows 7 with an introduction to the Desktop, Start Menu and the all new Taskbar  Windows I is held on Tuesday April 29th at 2:00 p.m.
Microsoft Excel 3: If you need to insert a chart into an Excel worksheet, this class will teach you how. We will also talk about page breaks and printing your document. Microsoft Excel 3 is held on Tuesday April 29th at 3:00 p.m.
Microsoft Word 1:  We want you to become familiar with Microsoft Word 2007, so to begin we will start with basic terminology, how to accomplish everyday tasks such as creating a new document, saving a document, spell checking, change text and printing.  This class is held on Tuesday April 29th at 4:00 p.m and repeats Thursday May 1st at 10:00 a.m.
Microsoft Word 2 is held on Tuesday April 29th at 5:30 p.m.  We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, indents & tabs, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.
Power Point 2 is held on Wednesday April 30th at 5:30 p.m.  In this class, you will learn how to add graphics, animation, transitions, sounds, and charts to a PowerPoint presentation. Attendees need to have basic PowerPoint skills before attending this class
Google Documents is held on Thursday May 1st at 11:00 a.m.  This class will give learners an opportunity to learn how to create word processing documents, spreadsheets and presentations in the cloud and share them with friends.
Online Bookmarking and Note Keeping is held on Thursday May 1st at 2:00 p.m.  This class introduces various options for online bookmarking and note keeping.
Setting Up and Email Account is held on Thursday May 1st at 3:30 p.mIf you never have had an email account this is the class for you. Yahoo email is a free email service that is very easy to sign-up for and use.
Tech Thursday is at 5:00 p.m. May 1st.  This is an opportunity to bring your tech questions and library staff will help you to find answers.
Tree Care from the Roots to the Canopy is the topic for the May Garden Group meeting on May 1st at 6:30 p.m.
