National Public Safety Telecommunications Week April 13-19, 2014

Along with it being National Library Week it is also National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.  The following is an announcement from the Dakota County Emergency Management Team.

The unseen…….Public Safety dispatchers, hundreds of men and women across the country who handle emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment and render life-saving assistance to the public.

Most of us take police, fire and emergency dispatchers for granted, unless, of course, you have a reason to call 9-1-1. At that very moment, the dispatcher becomes the most important person in the world, and your lifeline to safety and help.

Public safety dispatchers provide a critical service to the community and all emergency personnel while performing their duties with integrity, quality, accountability and respect. As the first person on the scene of nearly every crime, fire and medical emergency, the 9-1-1 dispatcher continues to be an invaluable resource for agencies of all sizes.

Take a few minutes this week to say thank you and recognize your local dispatchers.
