The following is the weekly column that we write each week and is published in the Dakota County Star.
This week we focus on the technology classes at the library.
Windows 3 (Tuesday October 21st at 10:00 a.m.): Did you know that you can Aero Peek, Snap and Shake on your computer? If you don’t know what we am talking about, stop in and let us show you some new ways of working with Windows to make it more productive.
Clean up Your Computer (Tuesday October 21st at 11:00 a.m.): Is your computer running slower? Do pop-ups keep appearing? Does your computer randomly crash or freezes up? Then this may be the class for you. Clean up Your Computer shows you how to maintain your computer on both the outside and the inside. Learn what basic procedures and what free software you can use to improve the performance of your computer.
Setting up an Email Account (Tuesday October 21st at 1:00 p.m.): If you never have had an email account this is the class for you. Learn about the different free email service that is very easy to sign-up for and use.
Smartphone Apps (Tuesday October 21st at 2:00 p.m.): Do you carry a “computer” in your pocket by way of a Smartphone? Want to know about programs that you can do on your Smartphone? Stop on in and let us help with that information.
E-book Reader (Tuesday October 21st at 5:00 p.m.): Covers what an e-Book reader is and provides hands on demonstration of some of the different kinds. Also teaches how to use Overdrive, a way to get e-Books through the Library.
Microsoft Word 2 (Tuesday October 21st at 6:00 p.m.): We will add to our knowledge from Word 1 and expand a little bit more. We will discuss the ruler, indents & tabs, insert/overtype, cut and paste, using the clipboard, and paragraph styles.
Microsoft Word 3 (Tuesday October 21st at 7:00 p.m.): This is a further study in using Microsoft Word.
Mango Languages (Thursday October 23rd at 10:00 a.m.): Explore this language learning program.
Learn the Library Webpage (Thursday October 23rd at 11:00 a.m.): Learn everything that you have available on the library web page. How to renew books, how to search for jobs, find out important information, what books your favorite author has written. All this information will be revealed and more.
Facebook Basics (Thursday October 23rd at 3:00 p.m.): This class will help you get up to speed on how to create, use and maintain a Facebook page of your own and understanding the privacy policies and settings.
Twitter Basics (Thursday October 23rd at 3:00 p.m.): An introduction to signing-up, creating a profile and using the service to find friends and/ or use Twitter for a news source. Patrons will have the opportunity to have two Twitter friends by the end of the class.
Pinterest (Thursday October 23rd at 5:00 p.m.): Learn how to collect and share ideas on Pinterest.
Tech Thursday (October 23rd at 6:00 p.m.): Bring your technology questions; we will help you get answers.
Google Docs (Thursday October 23rd at 7:00 p.m.): This class will give learners an opportunity to learn how to create word processing documents, spreadsheets and presentations in the cloud and share them with friends.
Tangled Yarns meet each Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. for a time of learning needlework together.
Book Sale is held on October 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
We show family movies on Monday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday afternoons at 1:00 p.m.
