Charlotte Endorf spoke to an enthusiastic crowd at the South Sioux City Public Library. She shared her research into the North Platte Canteen, which ran from 1941-1946, serving the troop trains, transporting soldiers to both coasts during World War II. Her program Nebraska Spirit: the North Platte Canteen was made possible through funds from Humanities Nebraska. We would not be able to bring programs such as these without funds from Humanities Nebraska. This was also a One Book One Siouxland event, promoting the reading of Unbroken by Laura Hilenbrand.
