Children’s Publishing and More at the South Sioux City Public Library

One of the goals of the library is to encourage children to read.  Having a ready supply of good books from good authors is a necessity to meet this goal.  That is why Writer to Writer is focusing on the children’s book publishing this week. 

Debra La Croix of Usborne books will discuss the children’s book publishing industry on Saturday February 21st at 10:00 a.m.  If you are interested in writing for children, come to this interesting discussion.  At 11:00 a.m. the group will discuss our current writing projects.

Youth Educational Activities:  We have Tell me a Story on Monday at 1:30 p.m., Night of FUN, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., Tell me a Story, Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., Pat-a-Cake Pals, Thursday at 10:00 a.m., and Toddler Time Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Cover to Cover book club is proud to host a One Book One Siouxland discussion of The Boys in the Boat by Daniel J. Brown at 3:00 p.m. on Monday February 23rd

Daniel James Brown’s robust book tells the story of the University of Washington’s 1936 eight-oar crew and their epic quest for an Olympic gold medal, a team that transformed the sport and grabbed the attention of millions of Americans. The sons of loggers, shipyard workers, and farmers, the boys defeated elite rivals first from eastern and British universities and finally the German crew rowing for Adolf Hitler in the Olympic Games in Berlin, 1936.

The Garden Group will discuss seed saving at their next meeting on Monday February 23rd at 6:30 p.m.

Tangled Yarns group meets on Tuesday February 24th at 6:30 p.m.

Financial Literacy Wrap-up Class draws to a conclusion the Smart Investing @ your Library program on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

Financial Lessons Class:  Finding Ways to make your Money Go Farther shows some ways to save money and live well.
