Good Bugs, Bad Bugs, Heroes, Villains, and more at the South Sioux City Public Library

The following is the weekly library column printed in the Dakota County Star.

Good Bugs, Bad Bugs, Heroes, Villains, and more at the South Sioux City Public Library
Garden Group: Good Bugs, Bad Bugs will be held on Monday night June 22nd at 6:30 p.m. In this class we will learn what insects will be good for your garden and which are harmful.
Heroes, Heroines, Villains, and Heels looks at some of the greatest heroes and villains from the movies and literature.  Find out if your favorite hero or villain makes the list on Monday June 22nd at 6:30 p.m.
Club 745.5 (Crafts) Class will again make Hypertufa containers of other types. This is a continuation of the May class. Learn how to create pots that are strong as concrete pots, but light and durable. This class is held on June 18th at 6:30 p.m. and repeated on June 19th at 10:30 a.m.
Community Hero: K9 Vic and Officer Jensen: Come meet Officer Jensen and his partner K9 Vic. Hear about how K9 Vic works with the police by doing heroic work! See K9 Vic in action and enjoy a book read by Officer Jensen on June 24th at 6:00 p.m.
Mad Science Party 4-H Program is for ages 6 and up, so come have fun with some hands-on science experiments on June 25th at 2:00 p.m.
Unmask Local Heroes is on June 23rd at 2:00 p.m. This program is for grades 6th – 12th. The teens will choose a local hero they would like to interview and prepare their questions.
We will learn about the American Symbols with books, crafts and worksheets on June 20th at 11:00 a.m.
Dog Origami: Join us to learn the art of origami by creating a simple dog by folding paper on June 23rd at 10:00 a.m.
Stuffed Animals into Animal Heroes: Have your child bring in their favorite stuffed animal and we will transform them into Animal Super Heroes on June 27th at 3:00 p.m.
Cover to Cover Book Club meets on June 22nd at 3:00 p.m. We will discuss The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd.
Tangled Yarns is a group of needle workers that meet every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Our Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday June 27th from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tell Me a Story is a story time for preschool aged children and their caregivers. Join us while we read and craft on Monday the 8th, 22nd, & 29th at 1:30 p.m.
Night of Fun is a program for children of all ages to come to the library and see how fun the library is on June, 23rd, at 6:30 p.m.
Pat-a-Cake Pals is held on June 18th and 25th at 10:00 a.m.  This is a time to introduce the library to our youngest customers, those under 2 years old.  We sing.  We read, and we play.
Toddler Time is held on Friday 19th, and 26th at 10:00 a.m. This is a story time for children 2-3 years old and their caregivers. We enjoy books, crafting and a snack.
We offer Anytime Activities on June 19th and 23rd. These are activities that you can stop by and do anytime on those days. 
Computer Classes:  On Thursday June 18th we offer Setting up an email account at 10:00 a.m., Mango Languages at 11:00 a.m. E-Book Reader at 2:00 p.m., Blogging Basics at 3:00 p.m., and Nebraska Access at 4:00 p.m.  On Tuesday June 23rd we have Clean Up Your Computer at 1:00 p.m., E-Book Reader at 5:00 p.m., Mango Languages at 6:00 p.m. and Setting Up an email account at 7:00 p.m.
Have you tried Freegal Music service?  Freegal allows you to download three songs per week for free and stream three hours of music per day for free with a valid library card.  The service has a broad variety of music available.  For example the top 5 albums nationwide on Freegal are from Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, ASAP Rocky, Mariah Carey, Leonard Cohen, and Clare.  While the top 5 albums on South Sioux City’s Freegal page are from The Who, Chris Rice, Dolly Parton, Gloria Estefan & the Miami Sound Machine, and Meghan Trainor.
