Summer Youth Activities and More at the South Sioux City Public Library
Cutting the Cable Cord is held on Monday June 8th at 6:30 p.m. This class discusses your options to the usual cable/ satellite subscription. We will talk about digital antennae, internet and wi fi options, the cost of various products, and other options you may not have considered.
Cover to Cover Book Club meets on June 8th and 22nd at 3:00 p.m. On June 8th we will discuss The Forgotten by David Baldacci. We will discuss The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd on June 22nd.
Tangled Yarns is a group of needle workers that meet every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Library Eats Fresh Salad is held on Saturday June 11th at 6:30 p.m.
Junior Library Eats meets on Thursday June 4th at 4:00 p.m. We will work with children to teach them how they can prepare snacks, with minimal help, and enjoy them.
We show Family Movies each Saturday at 1:00 p.m., and Mondays at 6 p.m. These are movies from G to PG13. These are movies the whole family will love.
We offer Anytime Activities on June 8th, 10th, 19th, 23rd, and 29th. These are activities that you can stop by and do anytime on those days.
Tell Me a Story is a story time for preschool aged children and their caregivers. Join us while we read and craft on Monday the 8th, 22nd, & 29th at 1:30 p.m. and Wednesday the 10th at 4:30 p.m.
Unmask Local Heroes is on June 9th, 16th, and 23rd at 2:00 p.m. . This program is for grades 6th – 12th. The teens will choose a local hero they would like to interview and prepare their questions.
Night of Fun is a program for children of all ages to come to the library and see how fun the library is on the 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th at 6:30 p.m.
Pat-a-Cake Pals is held on June 11th, 18th and 25th at 10:00 a.m. This is a time to introduce the library to our youngest customers, those under 2 years old. We sing, read, and play
Community Hero – Police Officer: Join us to meet a local hero (or two) from our Police Department. You’ll be able to talk to them about their job, hear a story read by them, talk about their uniform and even discover the inside of a police cruiser! This is held on June 11th at 1:00 p.m.
Toddler Time is held on Friday the 12th, 19th, and 26th at 10:00 a.m. This is a story time for children 2-3 years old and their caregivers. We enjoy books, crafting and a snack.
Create with Fingerprints: We will use ink pads and stamp our fingerprints, then see what we can draw on them to make the prints into something else; such as a penguin.
This is held on Friday June 12th at 3:00 p.m.
Military Hero 4-H Program: Learn about the traits of our military heroes, learn about our American Flag, and design a quilt block to be made into a Quilt of Valor, which will be donated to a soldier. This program is for grades 3rd – 5th on June 15th at 2:00 p.m.
Magic Show: Join us while we are entertained with Jeff Quinn’s Hero on June 17th at 5:00 p.m.
Craft a Soldier: Join us while we paint and craft a paper soldier on June 18th at 5:00 p.m.
Learn about the American Symbols with books, crafts and worksheets on June 20th at 11 a.m.
Dog Origami: learn the art of origami by creating a simple dog by folding paper on June 23rd at 10 a.m.
Community Hero – K9 Vic and Officer Jensen: Come meet Officer Jensen and his partner K9 Vic. Hear about how K9 Vic works with the police by doing heroic work! See K9 Vic in action and enjoy a book read by Officer Jensen on June 24th at 6:00 p.m.
Mad Science Party 4-H Program: For ages 6+, come have fun with some hands-on science experiments on June 25th at 2:00 p.m.
Stuffed Animals into Animal Heroes: Have your child bring in their favorite stuffed animal and we will transform them into Animal Super Heroes! This is held on June 27th at 3:00 p.m.
Super Hero bookmarks: We will create bookmarks out of popsicle sticks. Children will be able to decorate their own super hero on it! This is held on June 30th at 4:00 p.m.
